Baggage & Allowable Goods 

Value tickets: one standard cabin bag up to 7kgs and measuring no more than 55cm x 35cm x 20cm, including wheels and handles, will be permitted.

Standard and Flexible tickets: one standard cabin bag up to 10kgs and measuring no more than 55cm x 35cm x 20cm, including wheels and handles, will be permitted.

Jetstream 41 aircraft

Due to the restricted storage space on board our Jetstream aircraft, passengers may be asked to use the valet service and surrender their cabin baggage upon boarding to be stowed in the hand baggage pod unless it is the size of a small hand bag or A4 portfolio folder. Items such as electronic devices should be removed and taken onboard during the flight for stowage and use when permitted. Cabin baggage will be accessible at the aircraft steps for your collection upon arrival at the destination.

Passengers are advised to remove fragile/valuable items to be taken on board. Items which may be considered dangerous, such as, toy guns, kitchen knives, swords, spear guns, knitting needles and sharp items, such as nail scissors and clippers, tweezers, penknives etc. are not permitted in hand baggage.

Prohibited Hand Baggage Items
There are items that are prohibited from being carried in the cabin of an aircraft, or on the person. Customers are asked to remove such objects from their hand baggage. The following are lists of articles that may not be carried into the cabin of an aircraft:

Chemical & Toxic Substances
Any chemical or toxic substance, which poses a risk to the health of passengers and crew, or, the security / safety of aircraft or property, including, but not limited to:

• Acids and alkalis (e.g. spillable ‘wet’ batteries)
• Corrosive or bleaching substances (e.g. mercury, chlorine)
• Disabling or incapacitating sprays (e.g. mace, pepper spray, tear gas)
• Fire extinguishers
• Infectious or biological hazardous material (e.g. infected blood, bacteria and viruses)
• Material capable of spontaneous ignition or combustion
• Poisons
• Radioactive material (medicinal or commercial isotopes)

Stunning Devices
Devices designed specifically to stun or immobilise, including:

• devices for shocking, such as stun guns, tasers and stun batons
• animal stunners and animal killers
• disabling and incapacitating chemicals, gases and sprays, such as mace, pepper sprays, capsicum sprays, tear gas, acid sprays and animal repellent sprays

Blunt Instruments
Any blunt instrument capable of causing injury, including, but not limited to:

• Baseball and softball bats
• Billiard, snooker and pool cues
• Clubs or batons – rigid or flexible (e.g. billy clubs, blackjacks, nightsticks and batons)
• Cricket bats
• Fishing rods
• Golf clubs
• Hockey sticks
• Kayak and canoe paddles
• Lacrosse sticks
• Martial arts equipment (e.g. knuckle dusters, clubs, coshes, rice flails, num chucks, kubatons and kubasaunts)
• Skateboards

Guns, Firearms & Weapons
Any object capable, or appearing capable, of discharging a projectile or causing injury, including, but not limited to: 

• Air pistols / rifles and pellet guns
• All firearms (pistols, revolvers, rifles, air rifles, shotguns etc.)
• Animal humane killers
• Ball bearing guns
• Bows, arrows, slingshots
• Catapults
• Component parts of firearms (excluding telescopic sighting devices and sights)
• Crossbows
• Harpoon & spear guns
• Industrial bolt and nail guns
• Lighters shaped like firearms
• Replica and imitation firearms
• Signal flare pistols
• Starter pistols
• Stun or shocking devices (e.g. cattle prods, ballistics conducted energy weapons, tasers)
• Toy guns of all types

Pointed / Edged Weapons & Sharp Objects
Pointed or bladed articles capable of causing injury, including, but not limited to: 

• Arrows and darts
• Axes and hatchets
• Box cutters
• Corkscrews
• Crampons
• Harpoons and spears
• Household cutlery
• Hypodermic syringes (unless for a proven medical purpose)
• Ice axes and ice picks
• Ice skates
• Knives, including ceremonial knives, with blades of more than 6 cm, made of metal or any other material strong enough to be used as a potential weapon
• Lockable or flick knives with blades of any length
• Machetes
• Meat cleavers
• Open razors and blades (excluding safety or disposable razors with blades enclosed in cartridge)
• Sabres, swords & swordsticks
• Scalpels
• Scissors with blades more than 6 cm in length
• Ski and walking / hiking poles
• Throwing stars

Workmen's tools
Tools capable of being used either to cause serious injury or to threaten the safety of aircraft, including: 

• Crowbars
• Drills and drill bits, including cordless portable power drills
• Tools with a blade or a shaft of more than 6cm capable of use as a weapon, such as screwdrivers and chisels
• Saws, including cordless portable power saws
• Blowtorches
• Bolt guns and nail guns

Explosives & Flammable Substances
Any explosive or highly combustible substance, which poses a risk to the health of passengers and crew or the security / safety of aircraft or property, including, but not limited to:

• Aerosol spray paint
• Alcoholic beverages exceeding 70% by volume (140% proof)
• Ammunition
• Blasting caps
• Detonators and fuses
• Explosives and explosive devices
• Fireworks, flares in any form and other pyrotechnics (including party poppers and toy caps)
• Flammable liquid fuel (e.g. petrol/gasoline, diesel, lighter fluid, alcohol, ethanol)
• Gas and gas containers (e.g. butane, propane, acetylene, oxygen - in large volume)
• Grenades of all types
• Gun powder and plastic explosives
• Mines and other explosive military stores
• Non safety matches
• Replica or imitation explosive material or devices
• Smoke generating canisters or cartridges
• Turpentine and paint thinner

Hold baggage

Value fare: no free hold baggage.

Hold baggage can be purchased prior to check in opening at the airport for a fee of £30 each way per 15kg bag (online). At the airport, the fee is £50 each way per 15kg bag.

Standard fare: 15kg hold baggage.

Flexible fare: 23kg hold baggage.

An excess baggage fee of £10 per kilo will be applied when the baggage allowance is exceeded.  All baggage fees are non-refundable.

Due to Health and Safety regulations we are unable to accept any single piece weighing more than 32kgs. Excess baggage is subject to our conditions of carriage. Prohibited Checked Baggage Items
There are items that are prohibited from being carried in hold baggage. Customers are asked to remove items from their baggage. The following articles should not be placed in hold baggage:

• Ammunition
• Blasting Caps
• Corrosives (e.g. mercury or vehicle batteries)
• Dynamite, gunpowder and plastic explosives
• Explosives (e.g. detonators, fuses, grenades or mines)
• Flammable gases (e.g. propane, butane)
• Flammable liquids (e.g. gasoline or methanol)
• Flammable solids and reactive substances (e.g. magnesium, firelighters, fireworks, flares or other pyrotechnics)
• Oxidizers and organic peroxides (e.g. bleach or car body repair kits)
• Radioactive material (e.g. medicinal or commercial isotopes)
• Smoke-generating canisters and smoke-generating cartridges
• Toxic or infectious substances (e.g. rat poison or infected blood)
• Vehicle fuel system components which have contained fuel

Eastern Airways is from time to time requested to carry a variety of items other than the suitcases that normally constitute baggage. While every effort is made to accommodate the reasonable requests of passengers, various restrictions must be applied, and some items cannot be carried under any circumstances. Carriage of excess baggage is subject to stowage limitations and accordingly we can not always guarantee carriage on your flight. Please see below:

Pushchairs
Passengers travelling with infants may take one small collapsible pushchair and one car seat per infant in addition to the baggage allowance included in the ticket.

Carriage of Firearms
Regulations prohibit the carriage of weapons and ammunitions on British aircraft except that weapons which are not ‘munitions of war’ such as sporting guns, may be carried provided they are stored in a baggage hold not accessible to Passengers and an orange ‘Firearms’ tag is attached. Advance notification and licence details must be provided. Applicable fee payable.

Diving Cylinders
Will only be carried if they are empty and their valves are open.

Catalytic Hair Curlers (e.g. Braun)
No more than one per passenger, provided that the safety cover is securely fitted over the heating element. These hair curlers must not be used on board. Gas refills for such curlers are not permitted in checked or carry-on baggage.

Windsurf boards, surfboards and bodyboards
Due to space limitations, these items can be accepted on a first come, first served basis (with exception to the Jetstream 41 aircraft) and must be booked in advance and no later than 48 hours prior to travel and meet our requirements.

Hang gliders
Because of the limited space available it is not possible to carry these items on the aircraft we operate.

Christmas crackers
Passengers are permitted to carry in their checked baggage one box of Christmas crackers. The box should be packed in its original, manufacturers wrapping. It is forbidden for ‘Party Poppers’ to be carried either in checked or hand baggage.

Electronic equipment
Some electronic equipment can affect the aircraft’s navigational and communications systems, and under no circumstances may it be operated while on board. On board use of sound-emitting devices is an irritant to other passengers and is forbidden.

Laptops and personal electronic items
Eastern Airways will not be held responsible for any loss or damage to these valuable/fragile items. Laptops and camera's should ALWAYS be taken as hand luggage and not checked in as aircraft hold baggage.

Golf Clubs
Subject to notification at the time of booking, Eastern Airways may accept golf clubs for carriage (depending on operating aircraft) provided that:

1. Maximum of one half set (7 clubs) per passenger per sector and clearly labelled
2. Separate trolley including motorised not accepted.
3. Fee payable of £30.00 each way.

Water sports equipment
Subject to notification at the time of booking, Eastern Airways may accept certain water sports equipment such as windsurf, surf and body boards for carriage (depending on operating aircraft) provided that:

1. Item of a weight not exceeding 10kg and limited to one item.
2. Item of a length not exceeding 1.95 metres and limited to one item.
3. Item contained in a protective bag or carry-case and clearly labelled.
4. Fee payable of £30.00 each way.

Bicycles
Subject to notification at the time of booking, Eastern Airways may accept manual bicycles for carriage (depending on operating aircraft) provided that:
1. The front wheel is removed and attached securely to the remainder of the machine.
2. The handlebars are rotated so that they are parallel to the frame.
3. The pedals are either removed or folded inwards and chain is wrapped.
4. The bicycle is contained in a bicycle box or bag and clearly labelled.
5. Fee payable of £30.00 each way

Due to space limitations, these items can be accepted on a first come, first served basis.

Musical instruments

Subject to notification at the time of booking, Eastern Airways may accept musical instruments (depending on operating aircraft) provided that:

1. Subject to email confirmation you hold insurance for the items
2. You understand we will not be held responsible for any loss, damage, delay or theft.
3. Fee payable of £30.00 each way

Carriage of Pets
Eastern Airways regrets animals, other than guide-dogs for passengers with disabilities, cannot be carried on any of our flights. Guide-dogs are carried free of charge.

Rules on liquids
EU rules on liquids apply to all air passengers travelling from any EU airport regardless of their destination.
The rules mean that limited quantities of liquids must be held in individual containers not exceeding 100ml (approximately 3.5 fl. oz).

Limited quantities of liquids, gels and pastes may include:
Shampoo, suntan lotions, creams, toothpaste, hair gel and hair spray, perfumes, cosmetics such as mascara and lip gloss, water and other drinks, soups and syrups and other items of a similar consistency. All liquid containers must be carried in a separate clear plastic, zip-top or re-sealable bag that does not exceed 20 cm x 20cm (8 inches x 8 inches) or equivalent to one litre capacity. Items must fit in the bag comfortably and the bag must be completely closed. At the airport security search, the plastic bag must be removed from the cabin bag and x-ray screened separately.

Can I take essential medication in my cabin baggage?
Yes. Essential medication in liquid form (prescription or over the counter) may be carried in the cabin bag subject to EU liquid policy restrictions. Customers may be asked to prove that the medicine is for an individual travelling and is required during the flight. Medicines in non-liquid form may be carried in the cabin bag as normal, provided they fit into a bag no bigger than 56 cm x 45cm x 25cm.

We operate a no smoking policy on board all of our aircraft and in all of our lounges. This includes the use of electronic cigarettes or any cigarette substitute device that emits a vapour or has a power source or produces a light. We do not permit electronic cigarettes to be charged within our lounges. Electronic cigarettes may be carried on board subject to the following conditions:

• Carried on person only
• No refills
• Strictly not permitted for use
