Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary: As a Mechanical Engineer at Eastern Airways, you will play a vital role in the design, development, and maintenance of aircraft systems and components. Your expertise in mechanical engineering principles and aviation technology will contribute to the safety, reliability, and efficiency of aircraft operations. This role involves working collaboratively with your team to innovate, analyse and implement solutions that meet CAA requirements and industry standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Aircraft Design and Modification: Participate in the design and modification of aircraft mechanical systems, structures, and components, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, safety standards, and performance specifications.
Engineering Analysis: Conduct engineering analyses, including stress analysis, fatigue analysis, and finite element analysis, to assess the structural integrity and performance of aircraft components and systems under various operating conditions.
Technical Documentation: Prepare technical documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications, and reports, to communicate design requirements, analyses results, and technical recommendations to stakeholders.
Material Selection and Testing: Evaluate materials and manufacturing processes for use in aircraft construction, considering factors such as strength, weight, durability, and cost-effectiveness, and oversee material testing and qualification activities.
Component Testing and Certification: Plan and oversee testing programs to validate the performance and airworthiness of aircraft components and systems, coordinating with testing facilities and regulatory authorities as needed.
Failure Investigation and Root Cause Analysis: Investigate mechanical failures, incidents, and discrepancies related to aircraft systems and components, conducting root cause analysis, and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improvement in aircraft design, maintenance practices, and operational procedures, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement enhancements that optimize aircraft performance, reliability, and maintainability.
Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of regulatory developments and industry standards in aviation engineering, ensuring that design and maintenance activities adhere to applicable regulations, airworthiness directives, and certification requirements.
Project Management: Manage engineering projects from conception to completion, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and coordination of activities to achieve project objectives within established timelines and budgetary constraints.
Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including aircraft designers, maintenance engineers, quality assurance personnel, and external partners, to achieve engineering goals and foster effective communication and teamwork.

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional engineering licensure or eligibility for licensure preferred.
  • Previous experience in mechanical engineering roles, with a focus on aviation or aerospace applications.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, including structural analysis, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and materials science.
  • Experience with aircraft certification processes, including CAA/IOSA regulations and certification requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply engineering principles to resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, organize, and execute engineering projects effectively.
