StavangerThe Stavanger region boasts beautiful scenery, living history, the pulse of the city or the best of culture, you're in the heart of it all. Distances are short to wherever you want to be. Go on a fjord cruise whilst there, take a stroll through the old town of Stavanger, visit the many museums in the region, hike in the beautiful mountain areas in Sandnes, rent a car and drive along the magnificent coastal line at Jæren where there are wide-stretched beaches as far as the eye can see!

Stavanger and the surrounding area around have some of Norway’s finest beaches. From pure white sand to small, cozy areas with grass or rock surfaces.

Stavanger has a variety of restaurants serving everything from traditional Norweigan courses to the most exotic meals. The town centre is for shopping, relaxation, movies and nightlife. You can drive around the town, but the roads in the centre are for pedestrians only.

Visitor Attractions:

Cruise Port – Majestic cruise ships depart for distant ports of call. While docked, these mighty ships are a spectacle for all to see.

Ledaal House – A mansion built about 1800 for the Kielland family. It features in Alexander Kiellands novels.

Market Square  - The scene of lively activity on weekdays. In the square can be seen a bronze statue of the Stavanger born novelist and play writer Alexander Kielland.

Stavanger Art Collections – West of Stavanager’s Archaeological Museum, the Art Gallery houses works by the painter Lars Hertervig.

Stavanger Cathedral – Notable features of the interior are the richly carved Baroque pulpit, a stone font of the Gothic period and the stained glass in the east window depicting New Testament scenes.
