Leeds Leeds is the second largest metropolitan district in the UK and covers an area of 562 square kilometres. The rebuilding and transformation of the city since the 1950’s has given Leeds the accolade of ‘Environment City’ and has undoubtedly played a role in the population increase to 715,402 making it the third largest city in the UK and home to more than 75 nationalities reflecting its cultural diversity.

It boasts a central position – midway between Edinburgh and London and is easily accessible via road, rail and air from numerous towns and cities including Europe with the aid of Leeds Bradford International Airport which is 30 minutes from the city centre and operates one of the best domestic networks (Eastern Airways to Aberdeen, Isle of Man and Southampton).

Kirkgate Market – Browse for a bargain at the largest indoor market in Europe with over 700 stalls. It is here that Michael Marks first opened his Penny Bazaar which ultimately led to the foundation of Marks and Spencer in 1890.

Headingley Cricket Ground – Home to Yorkshire County Cricket Club and the northernmost Test Ground in the world.

Otley – A town full of Yorkshire character and home to cabinet maker Thomas Chippendale. Many visitors will recognise scenes from the television series Emmerdale and Heartbeat.

Wetherby – Situated on the River Wharfe and the only racecourse in the county devoted entirely to National Hunt meetings. Skipton – not only does it have one of the most complete and best preserved medieval castles in England, the town’s geographical position has earned the title ‘Gateway to the Dales’.

Bradford – Enjoy the open spaces of the Airedale and Wharfedale Valleys, marvel at the award winning National Museum of Photography, Film & Television or pay a visit to Haworth, the literary village associated with the Bronte sisters.

York – The North's spiritual capital for 2000 years, York is central to Britain's colourful history. Visit the stunning York Minster, enjoy Stonegate and Shambles shopping and live the York history at the JORVIK Viking Centre, National Railway Museum and York Castle Museum. York is a year round destination offering a lively café bar and restaurant culture and vibrant entertainment and festivals.
