Destination Guide - Aberdeen

Aberdeen Aberdeen boasts outstanding coastal scenery as well as an awesome backdrop of the Grampian Mountains. The city displays a combination of well preserved history, distinctive granite architecture, award winning parks and gardens and well known high street names in their modern shopping centres.

The busy airport and heliport help serve the third largest city in Scotland, which is the centre of North Sea Oil exploration and production. The area is collectively known as “Scotland’s Castle and Whisky Country” with over 1000 castles or sites of castles within its boundaries and Speyside is home to more than half of Scotland’s distilleries.

Royal Deeside can be found to the south of the region and remains the favourite holiday retreat of the Royal Family. Queen Victoria fondly described it as ‘…a dream to be here in our dear highland home again. Every year my heart becomes more fixed in this dear paradise’.
