Eastern Airways
Stavanger Launched!
Aug 2007

Today (Monday 13 August) UK regional airline, Eastern Airways introduced its first ever international scheduled service from Aberdeen to Stavanger in Norway with services ideally timed for both business and leisure travellers.

Eastern Airways, which flies to 10 other destinations from Aberdeen operates two flights each weekday using a 50 seat Saab 2000 aircraft.

Flights depart from Aberdeen at 0700 and 1605, arriving in Stavanger at 0910 and 1815 local time. Weekday flights from Stavanger take off at 0940 and 1845 arriving in Aberdeen at 0950 and 1855 local time.

Graeme Ross, Eastern Airways’ Scotland director, said: “As we already provide a comprehensive network of services to and from Aberdeen to meet the needs of businesses, including the UK energy sector, Stavanger, being the centre of Norwegian oil and gas activities, was the obvious choice for our expansion into Europe.   There are also connections available for those arriving from Stavanger to many of our onward UK destinations.”

James Milne CBE, chairman and managing director of Balmoral Group, said: “We already use Eastern Airways’ network of routes from Aberdeen and the new Stavanger service is a welcome addition.  Our company provides equipment and services for the energy sector worldwide and this new service offers greater choice and convenience when travelling to and from Stavanger.”

Rita Stephen, development manager for Aberdeen City and Shire Economic Forum (ACSEF), said: “The development of Aberdeen’s economy is crucial, and important air links such as Eastern Airways’ new Stavanger service will help to attract even more business to Aberdeen City and Shire and further enhance the area’s competitiveness and attractiveness.”

Stavanger will be the European capital of Culture 2008 with its fine seafood restaurants and many tourist attractions, which includes the vertigo inducing Pulpit Rock located 600 metres above the nearby Lysefjord, offering the discerning traveller a great place to visit.

Eastern celebrates its 10th anniversary this year and also flies from Aberdeen Airport to Bristol, Durham Tees Valley, East Midlands, Humberside, Leeds Bradford, Newcastle, Norwich, Southampton, Stornoway and Wick.
