The award winning niche airline, which operates scheduled services from 16 UK airports, as well as Brussels and Stavanger in Europe, will increase its fleet of Saab 2000 aircraft to six with delivery due next week.
Delivery of aircraft number 2000-042 took place on Friday 24 August with 2000-008 following next week. The aircraft has very low fuel burn and cruises at 425 mph with its two sophisticated Rolls Royce turbo propeller engines.
Chris Holliday, Eastern Airways chief operating officer, said: “The Saab 2000 aircraft is suited to the key markets that we serve in the UK and as one of the world’s fastest efficient turbo prop aircraft, it is ideal for expanding our scheduled route network further into Continental Europe. The aircraft will also be utilised on private air charter services for blue chip organisations and groups travelling within the UK and Europe.”
Eastern Airways has been operating 50 seat Saab 2000 aircraft since 2004 and is currently the largest operator in the world of British Aerospace Jetstream 41 aircraft, with 23 in its fleet.
The company predominantly provides high frequency services to cities offering flexibility to business travellers, enabling day return journeys.
