October 2007
After just two months operating its first international service from Scotland, UK regional airline, Eastern Airways is increasing the number of flights between Aberdeen and Stavanger to meet demand.
The current twice daily schedule, which was launched on 13 August, will rise to three each weekday from 22 October 2007 to offer business and leisure travellers even greater choice of flights between North east Scotland and Stavanger Sola Airport. From 28 October, the airline will introduce a new Sunday service linking the two strategically important oil related cities.
Weekday flights will depart from Aberdeen at 0700, 1225 and 1720 arriving in Stavanger at 0910, 1435 and 1930 local time. Services from Stavanger take off at 0940, 1640 and 1955, landing in Aberdeen at 0950, 1650 and 2005 local time.
Sunday services will take off from Aberdeen at 1720 arriving in Stavanger at 1930 local time. Sunday flights leave Stavanger at 1955 and arrive in Aberdeen at 2005 local time. A 50 seat Saab 2000 aircraft will operate 32 flights a week between the two destinations.
Graeme Ross, Eastern Airways’ Scotland director, said: “Our new service to Stavanger has had an excellent start and we’re responding to feedback from customers, including those from the energy industry, wanting greater flexibility and more choice with three flights each weekday to Stavanger and a Sunday service. For those travelling from Norway to Scotland, this also enables us to further improve connection times to the onward UK cities that we serve from Aberdeen.”
Kevin Brown, Aberdeen Airport’s Managing Director, said: “Eastern Airways have been listening to their customers and ensuring they meet their demands. The additional flights will provide passengers with even more opportunities to sample the delights of Stavanger. In particular, I welcome Eastern Airways’ decision to expand their first international service from Aberdeen.”
The additional flights will also appeal to the non-business market as Stavanger, with its fine seafood restaurants and many tourist attractions, including the vertigo inducing Pulpit Rock located 600 metres above the nearby Lysefjord, is the European capital of Culture 2008.
Eastern Airways offers onward UK services from Aberdeen to Bristol, Durham Tees Valley, East Midlands, Humberside, Leeds Bradford, Newcastle, Norwich, Southampton, Stornoway and Wick.
