Aberdeen City & Shire: A brighter outlook takes off
April 2006
Eastern Airways becomes the first airline to support a regional brand identity by unveiling its new Aberdeen City and Shire liveried aircraft at Aberdeen Airport.

Eastern Airways has taken up the brand after close consultation with and the support of Aberdeen City and Shire Economic Forum (ACSEF). The Saab 2000 aircraft will operate out of Aberdeen Airport and will be used on Eastern Airways’ Southampton and Newcastle routes.

Saab 2000 Aberdeen City and ShireThe aircraft was unveiled at Aberdeen Airport by Graeme Ross, Scotland director for Eastern Airways, at a special presentation attended by Andy Flower, Aberdeen Airport managing director, the Lord Provosts of Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire, and representatives from ACSEF.

Graeme Ross said: “The Aberdeen City & Shire branding campaign will provide a real fillip for the region and it is imperative that all organisations in the area get behind it.  We operate more routes out of Aberdeen than any other airline and are proud to be associated with the brand and look forward to developing the relationship further.”

“The branding on the Eastern Airways aircraft makes it into a stunning visual which can’t be ignored when on the runway in other cities in the UK and abroad,” said Cllr Audrey Findlay, chair of ACSEF. “It’s a real coup that Eastern Airways has made this commitment so early in our campaign – their management team have really grasped the exciting promotional benefits that can be gained in working on this together.”

Aberdeen Airport managing director Andy Flower said: "We are delighted that Eastern Airways is supporting our regional brand in such a dramatic and effective way. The aircraft looks stunning and will certainly turn heads as it flies passengers to and from Aberdeen Airport. Developing and promoting a strong brand identity is vital for the future prosperity of a region, and Eastern Airways' commitment to extending the brand way in this way will undoubtedly spread the benefits of Aberdeen City and Shire to a much wider audience."

Eastern Airways is one of the first companies to adopt the brand, which has been developed by ACSEF to encourage and enable increased promotion of the area. ACSEF partner and Chamber chief executive Geoff Runcie said: “This is a wonderful example of how the Brand works in action. Aberdeen City & Shire – A Brighter Outlook is a real opportunity for everyone to come together to make a significant impact on the future of Aberdeen City and Shire and help sustain the long-term prosperity, economic growth and competitiveness of the North-east.”
