Cabin Crew Go Creative To Give Eastern Flying Start to 2005
January 2005
Wearing a corporate uniform is something most of us experience at some point in our working lives - but most of the attire would never see the light of day outside the workplace if it were down to personal choice!  Not so for the staff of award winning regional airline Eastern Airways who have had a chance to apply their skills to fashion designing with their new corporate look unveiled this week.

Designed and manufactured by Gatwick based Wensum, the brief was a tough one! – to utilise Eastern’s corporate colours of red and blue, to create a uniform that was easy to work in, combining smartness, professionalism, elegance and sophistication. But, as Eastern’s Marketing Manager Nadine Shaw, confirms, with the invaluable assistance of those who will actually don the uniforms, Wensum have come up trumps! “Our cabin crew were closely involved in the development of the uniform and a wearer’s trial was exercised inviting the staff to provide feedback as to the fit, comfort, styling and serviceability. We were presented with several designs but instantly one stood out from the rest. We wanted a uniform that would suit the professional market we operate in and also provide an air of sophistication and elegance and we have undoubtedly achieved this. The new look is slightly retro, with a contemporary twist.  Wensum has spent many hours working closely with Eastern to achieve the look required and a combination of colour, styling, sharp tailoring and quality cloths work together to create the Eastern image, which we are all thrilled with.”

Wensum’s Chief Executive, Jean Phillips commented,  “Wensum are delighted to have been appointed by Eastern Airways to provide their new uniform.  As the leader in uniform provision to other major airlines such as Virgin Atlantic and Monarch Airlines,  Wensum has used its experience in designing and issuing a modern, yet classic range of clothing to Eastern’s male and female cabin crew.  With comfort and practicality always in the forefront, the fabrics chosen for these garments are easy to wear and to care for, whilst representing the professional image associated with Eastern Airways”. The new look, which will be worn throughout the Eastern network from today,  has certainly been given the ‘thumbs up’ from the staff according to Cabin Services Manager

Amanda Clark. “Everyone is thrilled with the new Eastern look.  We have achieved comfort, which is so important when working in a pressurized environment, without sacrificing style.  All the cabin crew are very excited and looking forward to starting 2005 with a fresh new look.”
