UK regional airline Eastern Airways is to introduce an early morning flight to Stavanger, allowing business and leisure travellers to arrive in Norway by 9am.

Starting from 12 May 2008, Eastern Airways’ revised schedule means its 6.50am flight will be the earliest leaving Aberdeen Airport for Stavanger each week day.

From Stavanger, the morning flight will now depart at 9.40am, arriving in Aberdeen at 9.50am.

The popular afternoon flight remains the same, leaving Aberdeen at 3.30pm, arriving in Stavanger at 5.40pm local time, and leaving Stavanger at 6.05pm then arriving in Aberdeen at 6.15pm local time. The Sunday service departs Aberdeen at 5.20pm and Stavanger at 7.55pm.

The Aberdeen-Stavanger service was launched in August 2007 and the revised times are being implemented to offer an even better service to customers.

Graeme Ross, Eastern Airways’ Scotland director, said: “We are pleased to be introducing the earliest morning departure from Aberdeen to Stavanger, which will be more convenient for both business and leisure passengers. 

“Stavanger, being the centre of Norwegian oil and gas activity, is an important region for us and we will continue to provide a high quality service for all our passengers.”

With its fine seafood restaurants and many tourist attractions, Stavanger is the European Capital of Culture 2008. Places of interest for tourists include the vertigo inducing Pulpit Rock, located 600 metres above the nearby Lysefjord.
