Eastern Airways strongly advises our passengers to take out travel insurance
What are your baggage allowances and restrictions?
Hand Baggage
Due to airport security restrictions currently in place in the UK, only ONE piece of Hand Baggage will be permitted when departing from or transferring through the UK. Maximum cabin baggage dimensions are 55cm x 40cm x 20cm and the weight must not exceed 10kgs.
Effective from Monday 07 Jan 2008 a revised policy will apply - click here for details
On our Jetstream aircraft and due to restricted storage space only small pieces of cabin baggage which can be stowed under a single seat in front may be taken on board. All other pieces are placed in the aircraft hold upon boarding and returned to you outside the aircraft immediately upon disembarkation.
Items which may be considered dangerous, such as, toy guns, kitchen knives, swords, spear guns, knitting needles and sharp items, such as nail scissors and clippers, tweezers, penknives etc. are not permitted in hand baggage.
NEW EU LIQUID POLICY
What are the new rules on liquids?
With effect from 06 November 2006, the new EU rules on liquids apply to all air passengers travelling from any EU airport regardless of their destination.
The changes means that limited quantities of liquids must be held in individual containers not exceeding 100ml (approximately 3.5 fl. oz).
Limited quantities of liquids, gels and pastes may include: Shampoo, suntan lotions, creams, toothpaste, hair gel and hair spray, perfumes, cosmetics such as mascara and lip gloss, water and other drinks, soups and syrups and other items of a similar consistency.
All liquid containers must be carried in a separate clear plastic, zip-top or re-sealable bag that does not exceed 20 cm x 20cm (8 inches x 8 inches) or equivalent to one litre capacity.
Items must fit in the bag comfortably and the bag must be completely closed.
At the airport security search, the plastic bag must be removed from the cabin bag and x-ray screened separately.
Can I take essential medication in my cabin baggage?
Yes. Essential medication in liquid form (prescription or over the counter) may be carried in the cabin bag subject to EU liquid policy restrictions. Customers may be asked to prove that the medicine is for an individual travelling and is required during the flight.
Medicines in non-liquid form may be carried in the cabin bag as normal, provided they fit into a bag no bigger than 55 cm x 40cm x 20cm.
Can I take my laptop/personal electronic items on board?
Yes. If the cabin baggage is deemed to large to be stowed under a single seat in front, passengers may remove laptops/personal electronic items to be taken on board.
Please note mobile telephones and some electronic equipment can affect the aircraft’s navigational and communications systems and under no circumstances may they be operated on board. Our cabin crew will be able to advise you of any such restrictions.
Checked Baggage
Our checked baggage allowance is 15kgs per paying passenger. All baggage in excess of this weight will be subject to excess baggage charges of £2.50 per kilo, per sector. Due to Health and Safety regulations we are unable to accept any single piece weighing more than 32kgs. Excess baggage is subject to our conditions of carriage.
